Jontay began operations in 1989 as a wholesale supplier of belting material and fashion buckles to retail fabric chains. As the sales for belting material and fashion buckles declined during the 1990s, Jontay switched its focus towards supplying these chains with multi-purpose strapping and plastic and metal hardware aimed at light manufacturing operations and prototype development projects. For a time, the retail fabric chains served as an important communication hub and general starting point for these projects. However, as these fabric chains began to disappear, the supply of raw products of strapping and buckles in small quantities and suffered.
Through internet marketing and coordination with various narrow manufacturing and hardware distributors, Jontay is able to supply these products in the small quantities that small manufacturers and prototype developers require.
